As one of the most popular spring break destinations for college students, each year thousands of young travelers flock to Cabo San Lucas to let loose, drink tequila, and have a great time.
Located at the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula, Cabo San Lucas, commonly referred to as “Cabo” has rapidly become a popular tourist town. Known for its’ beautiful beaches, luxurious hotels, and great nightlife, Cabo also boasts many attractions such as El Arco de Cabo San Lucas, great fishing excursions, and even golf, a perfect destination for all!
As a Southern California native, Cabo San Lucas has been a go to vacation spot all my life. I have been to the beautiful, beachy town many times, each time finding something new I had not known before.
Here are a few of my favorite parts of Cabo:
El Arco de Cabo San Lucas: Seen just off of the beaches, the naturally formed arc is a famous tourist attraction. Famous for where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific ocean, tourists can take locally chartered boats around the arc. Many of these boat drivers will entertain tourists with wild stories of how “lovers beach” and other known landmarks came to get their name during the ride to the arc. The landmark is also popular for its’ large sea lion population. But be careful, these sea lions have been known to jump on the bow of the tour boats!
Mango Deck: One of, if not the most popular day-time drinking spot for Spring Breakers. Located directly on the sand, people head to Mango Deck to partake in beer drinking contests, congo lines, tequila shots, and an overall great, and rowdy time. Mango Deck not only has great drink, but great food as well and I would highly recommend the chicken quesadilla! With a fun and energetic staff that seems to get even the biggest downers involved in contests, it is no surprise that people arrive early in order to get a table and end up camping out at this lively spot all day long!
El Squid Roe: If Mango Deck is the place to be when the sun is out, the El Squid Roe is the place to be after the sun goes down! Located along the main drag of bars and restaurants, El Squid Roe has been famously known for its’ rowdy nightlife and parties. With three stories of walls boasting hilarious signs such as “We Want Beer” you know immediately after walking in that El Squid Roe is the place to get rowdy! The bar is known for their large, sugary yard drinks and cocktail waitresses blowing whistles and offering up trays of jello shots, so be careful in your intake of alcohol when you go to Squid Roe!
Water Sports: Located along the sandy Cabo beaches, dozens of local water sport shacks offer banana boating, jet skiing, parasailing, boat trips and more! This is a great opportunity to put the margarita down and try something new. Though I believe it is required, make sure to always wear a provided lifejacket during these activities! Also, do not fall for the initial prices the locals give you. Along with many other places throughout Mexico, you are able to discuss and talk down the prices of these excursions, especially when they are not busy!
Cabo San Lucas offers countless other activities and attractions to entertain every type of tourist, making it one of the top travel destinations in Mexico, and a perfect choice for families and spring breakers alike!
